Finding Peace Through Trust: The Power of Rest in Jesus

Each night, I lie down with the intention of resting and waking up several hours later feeling refreshed and ready to face the day. However, by the end of the day, I often find that I still need more of that peaceful rest.

The other night, in the middle of the night, something unexpected happened – I suddenly woke up wide-awake. I got up and wandered around for about 30 to 45 minutes before finally returning to bed. But I could still feel the lost time of rest the next day. I didn’t get the recommended amount of sleep most adults need – 7 to 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night.

Maybe I was overthinking or worrying. Perhaps something startled me. Whatever the reason, I missed out on the rest I needed. If this became a persistent issue, I’d likely need to visit a doctor, as there could be something else going on that requires medical attention. Thankfully, in my case, the sleepless night was just a one-time occurrence. However, it made me reflect on something deeper: trust.

We often talk about trusting in Jesus, but when we truly reach a level of sincere trust, we can rest even in the midst of the most chaotic situations. Trusting in Jesus allows us to find peace during a busy day and comfort in times of trauma or turmoil.

Trust is not just sitting back and waiting for Him to do all the work; it’s actively participating, giving it our all, and watching Him work in our lives.

By building my trust in Him each day, I’m learning to rest along the way.

"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You" - Isaiah 26:3
