The Power of 3 Seconds: A Lesson in Faithfulness
In just three seconds, TikTok knows whether you are watching and paying attention. That’s fast—and it reminds us how quickly life can change. One moment, we can be standing on a mountaintop; the next, we find ourselves in a valley. Yet through it all, we must never forget one unshakable truth: God is faithful.
As 2 Thessalonians 3:3 tells us,
"But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one."
Faithfulness Requires Commitment
Being faithful isn’t accidental; it requires deep commitment. One powerful example of faithfulness in the Bible is Ruth. She refused to turn her back on her mother-in-law, Naomi. In Ruth 1:16-17, we read:
"But Ruth replied, 'Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.'"
How long did it take Ruth to make her decision? Scripture doesn’t tell us exactly—but most likely, it was less than three seconds. Why? Because Ruth loved Naomi. Her commitment was immediate and unwavering.
God’s Love Demands a Response
God loves each of us beyond what we can imagine. However, He gives us the choice: to receive or reject His love. Once someone truly understands how much God loves them, the decision to surrender becomes almost automatic.
Show me a person who understands even a little of God’s love, and I will show you someone committed to His Church, His will, and His ways. Conversely, show me a person who merely claims to be a Christian—yet does not pray, read their Bible, attend church, or seek to grow spiritually—and I will show you someone in dire need of examining their salvation.
The Danger of Superficial Faith
The harsh reality is that many will cry "Lord, Lord," yet have no true relationship with Him. Matthew 7:22-24 warns us:
"Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"
This sobering passage reminds us that faithfulness is about relationship, not religious activity.
