Rejoice in Every Season: Trusting God's Blessings and Timing
We live in a world where many believe they deserve the comforts of life simply because they work 40 or more hours a week. Others feel entitled to countless blessings because they are Christians who attend church regularly. However, the truth is that none of us deserve the many blessings we receive daily from our Lord and Savior.
Why? Because we are all sinners—fallen and broken. As Isaiah 64:6 (NIV) states:
"All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away."
Many godly men and women have worked hard and struggled all their lives, with little to show for it in the end. Some faithful Christians have even endured persecution, pain, and death while remaining devoted to God, their families, and their communities.
It is only through Jesus Christ that we are truly blessed. In His love and mercy, He chose to forgive—and even forget—our sins and iniquities. And sometimes, in His grace, He chooses to bless us in unexpected ways. Psalm 103:10 reminds us:
"He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities."
It is not because of our efforts that we have what we have or enjoy moments of joy. The Lord can give, and He can take away. Job 1:21 (NIV) declares:
"Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised."
When we embrace the truth of Job's words, we become better equipped to find contentment in every season of our journey. It also helps us understand that no matter how much we work, it is ultimately God who determines how we are blessed and cared for.
So—
If you have plenty, rejoice.
If you are without, rejoice.
If you are struggling, rejoice.
If you are lonely, rejoice.
If you are sad, rejoice.
In all things, rejoice. For He is working on you, and He knows best.
