Remembering God’s Faithfulness: Finding Strength in Past Experiences | Psalm 77 Reflection

The tiger spoke boldly, just like the Man Cub, during the performance of The Jungle Book. It was a joy to watch the talented actors bring their characters to life. Just as engaging was the sight of children in the audience, fully captivated by the drama unfolding before them.

Actors dedicate time and energy to embody the roles they portray. They must learn their lines so well that the words flow naturally, as if they were their own. Creating a believable and moving performance takes dedication, discipline, and a strong memory.

Our ability to remember is truly a gift. We can use our memories—especially the lessons of the past—to guide wiser decisions today and in the future. The psalmist reflects on this in Psalm 77:11–12 (NKJV):

“I will remember the works of the Lord; surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds.”

Remembering how God has worked in our lives strengthens our daily walk with Him. It reminds us of His holiness, His faithfulness, and His mighty power. In the verses that follow, the psalmist continues to reflect on God’s miracles, His redemption, and His greatness.

While some memories may be painful or filled with regret, there is power in shifting our focus. Instead of dwelling solely on our failures, we can choose to remember how God was present—even in our hardest moments. He was there, quietly protecting and guiding us, even when we were unaware of His presence.

So today, don't just look back with sorrow. Look back with gratitude. Reflect on how God carried you, shaped you, and never left your side. Let your memory be a tool that deepens your faith and brings you closer to the One who has always been there.
