God’s Watchful Eyes: A Reminder of His Care and Guidance

The rule had been repeated for weeks: no cellphones allowed during class. And every time it was broken, the penalty was always enforced. Yet, for some reason, a few students continued to sneak their cellphones into the classroom and use them during lessons. On one occasion, the teacher walked around the desk of a student, only to find that his phone was sitting in an open book while he was texting. I often felt like teachers had more than one set of eyes, watching over us. Without a doubt, the student texting during class must have felt the same way. Teachers just seem to have a knack for catching students in the act.

As Christians, we must be reminded from time to time that we cannot hide anything from God. His eyes are everywhere, watching over both the wicked and the good. Proverbs 15:3 states, "The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good." At times, the knowledge that God is always watching over me is comforting. However, when I'm flirting with temptation, I sometimes wish He wouldn’t be watching at all. But the truth is, God’s watchful eye is not meant to condemn us—it’s a sign of His deep care and concern for our well-being.

When our children were born, they seemed so tiny and fragile. We cared for them deeply and worried about them constantly, especially before they were old enough to move around on their own. Even now, as I grow older, I still feel small and weak, constantly in need of God's watchful care. It's a blessing, even when I stray into sin, to remember that He is watching not to punish me but because He is saddened by my choices. His eyes are a reminder of His love and holiness.

Therefore, I pray: "Thank you, Lord, for keeping me in Your sight at all times. Thank You for not taking Your eyes off of me, even when I’m about to make a bad choice. Your watchfulness helps me slow down, turn around, and stay on course with You."
