The Facts That Change Eternity: Truth, Faith, and Salvation in Jesus Christ
Facts matter. Without them, the world can spiral into confusion—leading to arguments, division, riots, war, suffering, divorce, and destruction. But when facts are studied, understood, and accepted, they have the power to bring love, kindness, purpose, and clarity.
While serving as a chaplain in a major hospital, I was called to a “Code Blue.” A woman was losing her battle with brain cancer. In the room with her was her son, who was clearly distraught as the medical team worked to save her. In our conversation, the young man asked with desperation in his voice, “Why can’t they just give my mother a brain transplant so she can be better?”
He had heard of heart transplants and was simply hoping for a miracle. Gently, I explained that brain transplants are not possible. Once he understood this medical fact, he remained deeply upset—but he also began to accept the difficult reality that his mother was dying.
This young man didn’t know the facts. And sadly, many people today either don’t know the truth or refuse to accept it.
The undeniable fact is this: We are all getting older, and eventually, each of us will face death. What happens after that moment is not a mystery—Scripture gives us the facts we need to prepare for eternity. According to 1 Corinthians 15:3–8 (NKJV):
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once… After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.”
This passage contains some of the most important facts in human history. And if you believe them, then Romans 10:9 tells you what to do next:
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Facts can change your life—and your eternity… Reading your Bible doesn't make you a disciple - living your Bible does!
