The Joy of a Good Report: Are You Ready for God’s Praise?
Have you ever visited the doctor and received a good report? How did it make you feel? Did you leave the doctor’s office with a spring in your step or a smile on your face? A positive report from the doctor reminds me of when I was in elementary school and would receive the final report card of the year. Like most kids, I would quickly flip to the back of the report card to read the handwritten note from my teacher, confirming that I had passed and would be moving on to the next grade.
While kids today may not have the same type of report cards, they still feel the joy of learning that they’ve passed to the next grade level.
Billy Graham once said that the only compliment he truly wanted was the one from the Lord Jesus Christ when he was judged. He hoped to hear the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Imagine hearing those words from God Himself.
A brief note from a teacher or a doctor is nice, but can you imagine hearing God say to you, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”?
God loves and blesses us in many ways, but He is also eager to welcome us into His presence. In His presence, the struggles of the flesh, the world, and even Satan, will no longer hinder us. Life is sweet, and we are undeniably blessed. But when we reach the end, may we hear the tender, meaningful words of Jesus rejoicing over our return to Him.
As Matthew 25:23 says, “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”
What a day of rejoicing that will be! Until then, may we continue to work with all our strength and might to be a blessing to Him.
