The Day an M&M Gave Me a Scare — and a Sweet Reminder of God’s Blessings
They went everywhere!
Anyone who knows me at all knows that one of my absolute favorite things is M&M's. I always try to keep some nearby—within arm's reach of my desk and computer. So, the other morning, as I was doing my thing at the computer (yes, I eat M&M's at all hours of the day—even in the morning), I reached for a handful of the colorful little treats.
I've done this countless times. But on this particular occasion, as I returned my large handful of M&M's to the desk, they scattered. They went everywhere! I found a few on the floor, some on my desk, a few in my lap—and somehow, one even managed to fall down my shirt.
How did that happen? I can only guess it landed on the desk, bounced up, slipped around the collar of my shirt, and made its way between my shirt and undershirt. Talk about a sneaky snack!
Now, the crazy part is—I didn’t even notice that rogue M&M for a while. Later, when I went to the restroom and looked in the mirror, I noticed a strange bump under my shirt. Panic immediately set in.
Oh no, I thought. Is it a tumor? A blood clot? Some type of sudden-onset disease? I felt sick to my stomach for a moment. Then—I touched it. It moved.
As I shifted it around, I realized: it was an M&M.
What. A. Relief.
When Life Feels Heavy—Sometimes It’s Just an M&M
We all jump to conclusions from time to time—usually worst-case scenarios. And often, our conclusions are completely wrong.
I’ve had to remind myself that not everything that happens is negative or bad. Sometimes, good things happen—why? Because I’m a child of the most loving and caring King of all: Jesus. And He enjoys blessing me, even in the smallest and funniest of ways.
James 1:17 says:
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
That might even apply to finding an M&M in your shirt... instead of assuming the worst.
Everyday Miracles and Sweet Reminders
God’s blessings are all around us—even in the unexpected. Take a moment today to look for them. Whether it’s sunshine through your window, a smile from a stranger, or yes, even a runaway M&M—they’re reminders that God is near and He loves you.
And who knows? If you’re really blessed today, you might just find an M&M, too.
