Embracing Change: Let God Refresh and Renew Your Life
Sometimes, simply moving a few chairs, a couch, or a couple of small tables can completely transform a space. The same goes for life—especially when you're moving out of an apartment filled with all the things that come with raising children. Change can be overwhelming, but it can also be refreshing.
Even small material changes can shift our mindset, create a new atmosphere, or spark a fresh perspective. Spiritually, the same principle applies. As Christians, it’s healthy to occasionally shift the way we approach things, even in our worship. At times, we may find ourselves stuck in a rut, unintentionally blocking what God wants to do in and through us.
Throughout Scripture, God often moved His people into new places or situations to reveal His plans: He moved Abraham to a new land, Daniel into a den of lions, and John to the Isle of Patmos. Each time, their shift—though challenging—led to something powerful. They experienced firsthand what God could do when they stepped into the unfamiliar.
You don’t necessarily need to move houses or leave your church to experience renewal. Sometimes, it’s just about changing your mindset or daily routine. Try reading a different translation of the Bible. Choose a new time or location for your personal devotions. These small changes can lead to spiritual refreshment.
We’re not part of something old or stagnant—we belong to a living, moving, and vibrant body of Believers, led by an ever-living, active God. Romans 8:11 reminds us:
“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.”
Did you catch that? “Will also give life.” Life is defined as “the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change.”
Continual change is part of being a growing child of God. I'm not the same person I was ten years ago. Sure, some changes are the natural result of aging—but the most beautiful transformations come from an evolving relationship with our living God.
So go ahead—move that chair, open a new Bible, look out of a different window, and let God change you. Your refreshment might be one simple shift away.
