Inviting God Into Your Home: The Key to a Blessed Life

Home is that special place where we can let our hair down, kick off our shoes, and simply be ourselves without hesitation. Regardless of its size or location, home is where we can breathe, cough, cry, slouch—or even fart—without judgment. Most of us love our homes because they’re the one place where we can be real.

But sadly, not every home feels like a sanctuary. Some live in homes filled with horror, hate, or danger—and for them, we pray sincerely.

Proverbs 3:33 reminds us, "The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the righteous." That sounds comforting, but it also begs a serious question: are we truly righteous?

Technically, no one is. Romans 3:10 says, "As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one." I, for one, am constantly aware of my own sinfulness, failures, and how far I fall short of what God desires. I am not righteous by my own merit.

So does that mean my home is cursed? Am I cursed?

No.

Though I am not righteous on my own, I am seen as righteous and forgiven through Jesus Christ. His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary cleanses me. It is only through accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord—our Forgiver and Redeemer—that we can move from a cursed existence to a blessed one.

This is why inviting Jesus into our lives is so critically important—not just for me, but for everyone.

So tonight, I rest in peace, knowing that although I live in a broken world and may face trials, my home is blessed. It may not be perfect or free from struggle, but it is filled with the presence of God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are welcomed here, and that makes all the difference.
