Never Alone, We Stand: Finding Strength in God’s Presence
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." – Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
We are never alone. We do not stand in our own strength or rely solely on our personal abilities—yet still, we stand. Why? Because the Almighty God is with us. He is in us, empowering us for whatever lies ahead. The road may not be easy or comfortable, but we are promised this: God, the King of kings and Lord of lords, walks with us.
A Night of Trial
It was what many might call a typical dark night. Silence filled the room. Then came the familiar tingling—a warning sign. The stroke surged through her body with a frightening intensity. She had experienced this before and fought her way through. She was not one to quit.
But this time felt different.
Questions surely raced through her mind. Her faith was tested yet again. Could she endure the coming battle? Did she have the strength for one more fight? Family members wondered. Doctors doubted. And in just a few days, the answer became clear—she had no more strength left to give.
It was over. And it showed on her face.
Has God Failed?
Had the God of Joshua 1:9 failed her? Had the Almighty given up?
No. Absolutely not.
There had simply been a change in direction—a shift in priorities, a new path to walk. It was time to cross over from the struggles of this world to the sweet, tender peace of heaven.
Stand in Faith
Let us be encouraged—every single day—to stand. Not in fear, not in weakness, but in the firm knowledge that our God is with us on every step of the journey.
And if the time comes for us to move on—to change locations, to shift into eternity—we can be assured that He will still be with us, giving us the strength and courage we need.
He was with my mother. And now, together, they still stand… as they go.
